About GetBridgeDay

Our Mission

GetBridgeDay exists to solve a simple but surprisingly time-consuming problem: figuring out how to get the most consecutive days off with the fewest vacation days. Every year, millions of workers across Europe manually cross-reference public holiday calendars, weekend positions, and company leave policies to plan their time off. We built GetBridgeDay to automate that process and make it visual, fast, and shareable.

How It Works

The planner analyzes public holiday placement for each country and year, then identifies “bridge days” — the working days that sit between a public holiday and a weekend. By taking just one or two vacation days in these windows, users can often create breaks of four to nine consecutive days off. Users select the bridge days they want, review the total leave cost, and export their plan as an ICS file that imports directly into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, or any standards-compliant calendar app.

Country and Language Coverage

GetBridgeDay currently covers five European countries: Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands. Each country is available in its primary local language and in English, giving users the flexibility to plan in their preferred language or share plans with international colleagues. We maintain planners for four calendar years (2025 through 2028), so users can plan ahead and compare how holiday placement shifts from year to year.

Data Sources and Accuracy

Public holiday data is sourced from official government publications and established reference sites for each country. Every country-year page links to its specific trusted sources so users can verify dates independently. We update holiday data as soon as official calendars are published, and each data set includes a verification date showing when sources were last checked. While we cover nationwide public holidays comprehensively, users should always confirm regional or company-specific observances with their employer.

Additional Tools

Beyond the bridge-day planner, GetBridgeDay includes utility calculators for working days between two dates, days-between-dates calculations, and business-day arithmetic with optional public-holiday exclusion. These tools are available for each country and language combination, making them useful for HR teams, project managers, and freelancers who need quick date math with country-specific holiday awareness.

Who Built This

GetBridgeDay is an independent project built and maintained by a small team passionate about practical productivity tools. We started it after spending too many hours each year manually planning bridge days across multiple countries and realized that a purpose-built tool could save everyone the same effort. The project is actively developed with new countries, features, and yearly data updates on an ongoing basis.
