Poland has 13 public holidays in 2026, though three of them fall on Sundays — Constitution Day (May 3), Whit Sunday (May 24), and All Saints' Day (November 1) — and since Polish law does not transfer weekend holidays to weekdays, those are effectively lost. Despite this, the remaining well-placed holidays offer strong bridge day opportunities, particularly in spring and December.
The top bridge day of 2026 is Corpus Christi on Thursday June 4. Taking Friday June 5 as one leave day creates a 4-day weekend — the classic 1 day of leave for 4 days off scenario. This is the single most efficient opportunity of the year.
Easter is another highlight. Easter Monday falls on April 6, creating an automatic long weekend from Saturday April 4 through Monday April 6. Taking Tuesday April 7 as one leave day extends the break to 5 days. For a more ambitious plan, booking the week of April 7-10 (4 leave days) delivers 10 consecutive days off.
Labour Day on May 1 falls on a Friday — an automatic 3-day weekend with no leave required. Epiphany on January 6 is a Tuesday — taking Monday January 5 as leave creates a 4-day weekend for 1 leave day.
Independence Day on November 11 lands on a Wednesday in 2026. This is a harder position to bridge — you need 2 leave days (either Thursday-Friday or Monday-Tuesday) to build a 5-day break. Alternatively, a single leave day on Monday November 9 or Friday November 13 creates a useful 3-day cluster connected to the midweek holiday.
Christmas is well-positioned in 2026. December 25 falls on a Friday, creating an automatic 3-day weekend. Taking Monday December 21 through Thursday December 24 as leave (4 days) extends this to a 10-day winter break from Saturday December 19 through Sunday December 28. This is one of the best year-end windows available.
Polish employees receive 20 days of annual leave with less than 10 years of service, or 26 days with 10 or more years. A university degree counts as 8 years toward this threshold, so graduates with just 2 years of work experience already qualify for 26 days. The key bridge day windows in 2026 are April (Easter), May (Labour Day), June (Corpus Christi), and December (Christmas).
