Poland has 13 public holidays in 2025, making it one of the most generous holiday calendars in Europe. The concept of bridge days — known locally as "mostki" or "dni mostkowe" — is central to smart leave planning here. Several holidays in 2025 fall on weekdays that create natural bridge day opportunities, and early planning can turn a modest leave budget into an impressive amount of time off.
The standout opportunity in 2025 is the late spring cluster. Labour Day on May 1 falls on a Thursday — taking Friday May 2 as one leave day creates a 4-day weekend. Constitution Day on May 3 falls on a Saturday, which in Poland means it is simply lost; Polish law does not transfer weekend holidays to the nearest weekday. Corpus Christi on June 19 is a Thursday — one leave day on Friday June 20 delivers another 4-day weekend.
Easter in 2025 brings Easter Sunday on April 20 and Easter Monday on April 21 — an automatic long weekend. Taking Tuesday April 22 off extends the break to 5 days for just 1 leave day.
Epiphany on January 6 falls on a Monday, creating a free 3-day weekend to start the year. The Assumption of Mary on August 15 is a Friday — another automatic 3-day weekend at no leave cost. All Saints' Day on November 1 is a Saturday — lost to the weekend. Independence Day on November 11 falls on a Tuesday — taking Monday November 10 as leave creates a 4-day weekend for 1 leave day.
Christmas is particularly well-positioned in 2025. December 25 (Thursday) and December 26 (Friday) create an automatic 4-day weekend. Taking Monday December 22 through Wednesday December 24 as leave (3 days) gives you 9 consecutive days off from Saturday December 20 through Sunday December 28. Extending further into New Year's week is also viable for a two-week winter break.
Polish employees are entitled to 20 days of annual leave (if they have less than 10 years of work experience) or 26 days (with 10 or more years). Notably, a university degree counts as 8 years toward this threshold — meaning a graduate with just 2 years of work experience already qualifies for 26 days. Unlike some European countries, Poland does not transfer public holidays that fall on weekends to a replacement weekday, making every well-placed weekday holiday especially valuable.
The strongest months for bridge days in 2025 are May, June, and December. January and August offer free long weekends. Use the planner below to build your optimal 2025 leave strategy.
